Short Description
The University of Florence is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Florence, Italy. Founded in 1321, it has a long academic tradition connected to the cultural and intellectual heritage of the Renaissance city.

The UNESCO Transdisciplinary Chair is the first and historic UNESCO Chair established within the University of Florence in 2006 with Chairholder Paolo Orefice, Emeritus Professor of General and Social Pedagogy at the University of Florence.
The transdisciplinary perspective, connected to challenges of complexity and sustainability, represents the pillar on which the Chair pursues to consolidate an integrated system of research, training, dissemination, documentation and networking.

Daniela Frison, Ph.D., is the Teacher Education Programme Coordinator of the UNESCO Transdisciplinary Chair Human Development and Culture of Peace. She is Associate Professor of Experimental Pedagogy at the Department of Education, Languages, Interculture, Literature, and Psychology (FORLILPSI) at the University of Florence. Her research focuses on initial education and professional development of secondary school teachers and education and training professionals. She is a member of the University of Florence commission for teacher education, local coordinator of the teff Academy – Erasmus+ Teacher Academy for a Future in Flux and member of the Teacher Education Arena within the European Alliance European University for Wellbeing – EuniWell. Her research also focused on design of guidance, tutoring and professional development interventions addressed to future and in-service secondary school teachers and education and training professionals.
